EhBrahCheckDisOut----->Ugly Cookies from Kailua-Kona..Only seen on Oahu at Manoa & the New Pearl City Long's Drugs

Here it is Oahu and visitor folks, something to munch on, WAY better than any cookie I think that's locally made. It's called Ugly Cookies and so far you can get them at the Manoa Long's Drugs or this was seen at the New Long's Drugs with the drive thru Pharmacy in Pearl City next to TJ Maxx. It's pricey but couple of days ago they had a in-store special which you see $13.99 instead the regular price of $17.29

The cookie is made in South Kona, you find them at KTA supermarket in Kona and even at the Keahole International airport gift shop. Great for gifts and really really good. It's like what the packaging jar says Ugly Cookies by Kona Chips.

Mean, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies with Kona Chips inside. Like I said EhBrahCheckDisOut on Oahu at the New Long's Drugs next to TJ Maxx or in Long's Manoa or if you happen to visit Kona.

EhBrahCheckDisout------>HASR Bistro in Downtown Honolulu

HASR Bistro is located in downtown Honolulu on the corner of N. Pauahi & Smith Street, there is on-street parking or a paid parking lot next door. 31 N Pauahi Street, Monday open only from 10:30am to 2:30pm and Tuesday to Saturday Lunch 10:30am to 2:30pm followed by Afternoon eats 2:30pm to 5:30pm and then followed by Dinner 5:30pm to 9pm. Overheard from one of the servers they got live music on the weekends at dinner.

Inside HASR Bistro- A real cozy eatery in downtown Honolulu. They do have outdoor seating along with a sit down bar area. The service that we had both the server and bartender were very friendly & you'll see that they serve water and soft drinks little mason jars, which was pretty interesting.

Here is a glimpse of their menu for lunch, I deciding between the HB Burger, the Crab Ruben or the Osso Bucco.

Gladly chose the Osso Bucco, this entree was a winnah!! The beef was so tender & I enjoyed the mushroom risotto, It was so good that next time I'll have to do it again for sure & for $16 on the menu it was reasonably priced.

They do have lunch specials too, Here is today's special-The Salmon with linguini. Salmon was seasoned and cooked perfect.

Really cool looking bistro, we had lunch right before they were closing up for the day, so it was quite empty but that's they landscape of it all at HASR Bistro, with the bar in the backside, entrance through the left side as you walk through the courtyard and outside seating.
Lastly, we had the Chocolate Decadence for dessert, a chocolate flourless cake that was rich in taste and a nice balance of Vanilla bean ice cream recommended by one of our 2 servers taking care of us.
Definitely, will have to try their Afternoon eats Tapa menu between 2:30pm and 5:30pm from Tuesday to Saturday because there is a few items that caught my eye, the Spiced Ahi Nachos, Mongolian Style baby back ribs, Grilled Australian lamb rack and Grilled Asparagus Salad just naming a few, check it out on their website. It's a bistro in a casual setting so dress casual too, full bar and fully recommended by EhBrahCheckDisOut for lunch!! On their site will have their dinner menu as well.

EhBrahCheckDisOut @ Real A Gastropub in Honolulu

Real a Gastropub established in 2012 & located at 1020 Auahi St. Bldg 1 Ste 1000 Honolulu, HI across Ward Warehouse and sandwiched inbetween neighbors Sports Authority & Dave and Busters. Open Monday thru Saturday 2pm to 2am and closed on Sundays.

If you are a big fan of micro brewery beers this is a must, they have a rotation of 20 something beers on tap. The folks there are pretty knowledgeable about the different brews including the alcohol % content. Take note they don't serve the Power beer brands like Bud, Bud Light & Heineken but they do have a few of the Hawaii micro brewery beers for you to partake.

At Real a Gastropub, the atmosphere inside I did get a kick out of the whole pub feel. They got a few booths including table style and outdoor seating  to drink and dine or just pull up right the bar as they have bar stool seats as well.

When we went to try the beers and the food ofcourse, it was right a happy hour, so the place slowly filled up. Our guy Adam got us started with telling us the beers on the selection board, it's pretty neat written on a dry erase above the bar and behind our seats on a chalkboard. The day we go, they had 29 different beers to choose from. Adam did a run down on the food menu which they got a 2pm to 4pm simple menu and after 4pm a full bar food parade of all kinds of good stuff on the opposite page.

This is their Citrus seared Sashimi, interesting but pretty good with the different flavors drizzled over it.

The Fried Buffalo style Deviled Eggs, a winnah! Deep fried coated with Panko crumbs and a creamy taste and the spiced flavor of the Buffalo sauce like you'd taste on some wings.  Get a couple trays because after a bite you won't want to share it!

A Beef Braised Poutine, you gotta try this baby! Fries, Gravy, Cheese Curds, little pieces of beef topped with a Fried Egg. Saw this style of a dish created in numerous ways on The Cooking Channel on a couple of shows that we had order this guy.

The Pulled Pork Slider accompanied by a serving of potato salad.

A Ground Chuck Burger Slider.

One of the beers I took on, the Coronado Idiot IPA which is very aromatic, you can smell the beer hops and has a full hearty taste. Something I'd recommend, this beer hails from San Diego, CA.

All in all, a super experience one really worth going back again soon.Next time it will be their well known Bacon Fat Fries, sounds so good!!!! Our guy, Adam was pretty entertaining & he was on top of his game with the beer and food knowledge at this beer heaven. The food brought to the table were like tapa style so with a friends to enjoy would be quite a occasion. Our tab, with all that great food & a few drinks totalled up to under $100.  Check out their website or on Yelp

So EhBrahCheckDisOut and off to the next location!!

Divisional Playoff Weekend-EhBrahCheckDisOut Prophecies

After a brief hiatus, Happy 2013 folks!!!

EhBrahCheckDisOut is back and up and running, my 1st post of Twenty-13 is on the NFL Divisional Playoffs as we have great games this afternoon & tomorrow.

We are just hours away from the best weekend of playoff football and the last weekend for back-to-back doubleheader games..

Here are my divisonal round selections

Baltimore (+9 1/2) at Denver
I'm seeing this game a little different than some folks predicting this one. This is Manning's 1st playoff game hosting in an outdoor environment and against a Raven's team that playing inspiring defense based on last week's Wild Card performance. I'm taking the points on this one with the Ravens though I see the Broncos winning a close one which will be the end of Ray Lewis' 17-year NFL Career. Thanks for the memories #52!!

Broncos 17-13

Green Bay at San Francisco (-3)
Yes I am a Niner Fan & yes I can picture them defeating the Pack in a nail biter. Rodgers and the offense seem to be hot at the right time but I see Frank Gore taking control of the ground game and defensively Justin Smith & Aldon Smith will prove to be too much for the Packer O-Line to handle. With a victory, the Niners will move on to a 2nd straight Championship game with 2 different QBs (Smith last season & Kapernick in 2012-13 season) since Washington did it with Jay Schroder 1987 & Doug Williams 1988.

Niners 31-27 & take the Over 45

Seattle at Atlanta (-2 1/2)
Altanta & Matt Ryan haven't faired well in the playoffs but this time the NFC's #1 seed will prevail against Seattle. The Julio Jones, Roddy White & Tony Gonzalez will be the difference against a pretty good Seahawk DB corp.

Atlanta 27-17

Finally,

Houston at New England (-9 1/2)
All New England is this one! I don't see this one going Houston's way and should be a repeat of what the last meeting was like during the regular season in Week 14.

New England 31-10

Have fun watching folks!!!
