The Best Time of the Year!! Start of Baseball & One Shining Moment

As a sports fan, this is the next best to our biggest holiday the Super Bowl, which is Opening day & the closing of the College Basketball season (The Final Four). This year MLB headed to the Far East to Tokyo for the Japan Series. Local boys, Kurt Suzuki (A's) & Brandon League (Mariners) featured in this series.

If you missed it because the game was shown in Hawaii at 3am this morning, there is an encore showing on MLB HD 1208 or if you're like me a mlb.tv subscriber you can watch it streaming online or something new this year on your Iphone you can watch on the At Bat app live broadcast games being a mlb.tv member.  Subscription cost this season is 124.99 for the calendar year. Well worth it if you like to watch  your favorite team like me (Atlanta Braves) or great games around the league and watch them at your pace.

Beneficial if your spouse likes to DVR stuff too! hahaha. You know her Monday and Thursday night shows, you don't need to take up DVR space no more..

Mariners won 3-1 in 11 innings.

But the Local boy performance of  Maui's Kurt Suzuki  1 for 5 and an RBI. In the winning performance for the Mariners, Saint Louis Crusader standout & Honolulu's Brandon League the Mariners closer got the Save in the victory, 1 inning performance over 14 pitches (9 thrown for strikes) and recorded 2 Ks.

And for Ichiro it was a homecoming, playing in front the home crowd at the Tokyo Dome, Ichiro went 4 for 5, a couple of infield hits & an RBI.

Catch the rebroadcast at 4pm today and game 2 Seattle (Vargas) vs. Oakland (Colon) of the 2 game series at 3am Hawaii Time on MLB network 1208.

Root Sports & Westwood One Pro Bowl Play-by-Play announcer Dave Sims with the call, one of the nicest guys broadcasting & true baseball guy with Mike Blowers as game analyst.

The rest of Opening Day begins Wednesday night, 2011 World Series Champions St. Louis take on the newly named Miami Marlins in their new palace out in South Florida. ESPN @ 2pm Hawaii Time. The rest of the league begins Thursday (7 games) & Friday (9 games).

Final Four Saturday

A little baseball & big basketball weekend. 2 National Semifinal games on Saturday, I'll watch even that my 'Cuse are out and it all concludes with One Shining Moment on Monday night for the National Title. The best rendtion of it was sung by the late Luther Vandross. The Jennifer Hudson version was good but you'll love the Luther Vandross' performance with the college basketball montage.

This too can be watched online or by Iphone app. Search March Madness on your Iphone or Ipad. You won't be disappointed, I enjoyed the games home and away & makes the Spouse happy!!!

BTW.. Kentucky 8pt favorite over Louisville. O/V 138 1/2.
Ohio St. 2 1/2 over Kansas. O/V 136 1/2.
If you were curious... the latest from The Gold Sheet
